administeredthefirsttestwasthatGoogleClassroomdoesnotreleaseanassignmentonitsplatformattheexacttimeforwhichitisset,sofortimedtestsitisimportanttomanually“assign”orreleasethetestsatthecorrecttime.Tocloseaccesstoatestontime,weusedanadd-oncalledformLimiter.Thisadd-onwillchangethesettingontheGoogleFormfrom“acceptingresponses”to“notacceptingresponses”atthetimeforwhichitisset.Thiswasusuallysetforoneminutepastthetimestudentsweretoldthetestwasover.Forexample,ifstudentsweretoldthetestendedat12:00,wewouldsetformLimitertoclosethetestat12:01.FormLimitergenerallytookabout30-40secondsfromthetimewesetittoclosethetest,sothetestmentionedabovewouldactuallycloseat12:01:35.Thefinalexamwasalsotimedandcoveredallofthevocabularyandcontentfromthesemester.Forthefirstvocabularytest,wehadstudentstypeintheanswers,andpointsweredeductedforwordformandspellingmistakes.Itseemedthatstudentshadadifficulttimewiththis.Fromthesecondvocabularytest,wechangedittomultiple-choice.Also,allofthewordsfromthevocabularysetbeingtestedwereincludedinadrop-downmenuwherestudentscouldselectthecorrectanswer.Onthefinalexam,thevocabularyquestionshadfourpossiblechoicesfromwhichstudentshadtochoose.Allofthecontentquestionsweremultiplechoice.3.6PresentationsPresentationsareamajorpartofthisclass.Studentsgiveapresentationonthetopicforeachunit.TheyarerequiredtoresearchtheirtopicandinputtheirresearchnotesintoaGoogleFormthatwillbecheckedbytheirteachers.Theyusethesenotestohelpthemdecidewhatpicturestoincludeontheirposter.PostersweremadeonGoogleSlidesandsubmittedashomework.Studentswerealsorequiredtouploadnotesonwhattheywouldsayabouteachpictureontheirposter.Forthefirstpresentation,wesimplyhadthestudentsrecordavideoofthemselvesgivingtheirpresentationandthenuploadittoanassignmentonGoogleClassroom.ArubricmadewithinGoogleClassroomwasusedtogradethepresentations.Wewantedtohavestudentsvieweachother'svideos,butwereabitworriedaboutgivingstudentsaccesstothefiles.WediscoveredawaytocreategroupsusingGoogleMeetandsetupalinkforeachgroup.Groupswerelimitedtothreeorfourstudentseach.Afterstudentsgavetheirpresentationsingroups,theyhadanassignmenttomakeavideoforuploadingandgrading.3.7PostertestsAttheendofeachsemester,studentshaveapostertest.Theybringallthreepostersthattheyhavemadethroughoutthesemesterandhaveaone-on-oneinterviewwithateacherofadifferentclass.Theteachersaskthestudentsquestionsabouttheirpostersandthereasonsthattheychosethepictures.StudentsmustexplaineverythinginEnglish.Fortheonlineclass,itwasdecidedthatitwouldbebestfortheteacherstogradetheirownstudents.First,anassignmentwasmadeforthestudentstocombineallthreeGoogleSlidesdocuments(theirposters)intoonedocument.Knowingthatcombiningthethreedocumentswouldbeachallengeforsomestudents,avideowasmadeforthestudentsshowingthemhowtodoit.Overthecourseoftwodays,theteachersmetone-on-onewiththestudentsonGoogleMeetthroughlinkssetupforeachindividualstudent.Theteacherswoulddisplaythestudents’postersonthescreenandusethecursortopointtothepicturesandaskquestions.Thisinterviewtestlastedaboutfiveminutesforeachstudent.Again,arubricmadeinGoogleClassroomwasusedtogradethestudents.ThisprocessworkedquitewellwithmoststudentsbeingreadyandonlinebeforetheteacherenteredtheGoogleMeetsession.4ConclusionWhileconductingtheIEclassesonlinewasachallenge,wegenerallyfeltthatthesemesterwasasuccess.Ofcourse,thereisalwaysroomforimprovement,andwedidencountersomedifficulties.First,becauseclasseswerenotface-to-face,wecouldnotseethereactionsofstudentstogaugetheirunderstanding.Thisisimportantforlanguageteacherswhengivinginstructionsinthetargetlanguagewhileinclass.TheinstructionsforAProposalforUsingGoogleClassroomtoImplementaContent-BasedIntegratedEnglishCourse―41―
