aboutJapantopeoplefromothercountries.Itisaverygoodcourseforstudentsthatneedtobuildtheirconfidenceorstudentswhoplantoworkorstudyabroadcommunicatemoreeffectively.3.3.12AmazingStoriesThiscourseisheldeveryFridayatthe5-6blockandisdesignedforstudentsatPASEOlevels1to3.SimilartoReadingandVocabulary,thiscourseisdesignedtobuildstudents'vocabularythroughreadinganddiscussingshortstories.Itisdesignedforstudentsatthelowerlevelandfocusesonallfourlanguageskills.3.3.13PracticalEnglishthroughSportsThiscourseisheldeveryFridayatthe5-6blockandisdesignedforstudentsatPASEOlevels1to3.ThiscourseusesthethemeofsportstoteachstudentsEnglishlanguageskillsusefulforbothbusinessandacademicpursuits.Thecoursehasstudentslearntoanalyzeanddiscussnumbers,charts,andgraphs.StudentsalsolearnhowtonegotiateinEnglishandsupportopinionswithfacts.Finally,studentslearnhowtothinkcriticallyastheymanageasportsteam.Attheendofeachterm,studentsmustgiveapresentation.Thiscoursewasdesignedmostlyforstudentsinbusiness,engineering,andscienceasitfocusesheavilyonteachingstudentstoanalyzeanddiscussdatainEnglish.3.3.14StoryWritingThiscourseisheldeveryFridayatthe5-6blockandisdesignedforstudentsatPASEOlevels3to5.ThisclassteachesstudentshowtowritenarrativesinEnglish.Itisusefulfordevelopingtheirgrammaticalandwritingfluency.Studentsinthehumanitieswilllikelybenefitmostfromthestyleofwritingdoneinthiscourse,butitisrecommendedforanystudentsthatwishtoimprovetheirwritingskills.3.3.15WritingFundamentalsThiscourseisheldeveryFridayatthe9-10blockandisdesignedforstudentsatPASEOlevels1to3.ThiscourseisalowerlevelwritingcoursedesignedtoteachstudentsthebasicsofwritinginEnglish,especiallyattheparagraphlevel.ItisheldatthesametimeasAcademicReadingandWritingandcanserveasalowerlevelreplacementforthecourseforstudentsunabletotakePASEOtwiceaweek.ThiscourseisrecommendedforanystudentsstrugglingwiththeirEnglishreadingandwritingskills.4ConclusionOverthepast20years,PASEOhasbeenfullycommittedtoprovidingEnglishlanguageinstructiontoallstudents,faculty,andstaffatChubuUniversity.AsChubuUniversitycontinuestobroadenitsglobalpresence,Englishlanguageinstructionwillbecomeevenmoreimportant.Inordertoachievethesegoals,itisimportanttobeawareofallthelearningopportunitiesandresourcesavailableatChubuUniversityandhowtousethemeffectively.ItishopedthatthisshorthistoryanddiscussionofPASEOwillbehelpthataim.―38―JournalofChubuUniversityEducationNo.18（2018）
